Izora Rhodes Armstead, one half of the disco duo The Weather Girls, has died. Best known for the dance club anthem “It’s Rainin’ Men”, The Weather Girls knew how to get the party started.
Although they had 3 albums and various singles, “It’s Rainin’ Men” became a cultural icon, a status that was sealed when the song was featured on the Simpsons as Homer’s favorite song in the jukebox at Moe’s.
The VIP Baja Beach Club in Barcelona has developed a futuristic VIP member plan — and a hands free way to keep track of your bar tab. Club owner Conrad Chase came up with the idea to implant microchips into customer’s arms in lieu of membership cards to create the “ultimate” club experience.
The night club offers its VIP clients the opportunity to have a syringe-injected microchip implanted in their upper arms that not only gives them special access to VIP lounges, but also acts as a debit account from which they can pay for drinks.
This sort of thing is handy for a beach club where bikinis and board shorts are the uniform and carrying a wallet or purse is really not practical.
Somehow, I think I’d manage to carry a purse. Call me crazy. Then again, maybe there are really killer appetizer specials available only to the collective?
