Waiting for Bigfoot — I’m not sure I can explain this adequately, so, from the site:
San Francisco-based American artist Jill Miller is participating in Norwich Gallery’s EAST 05 international exhibition, July 2 – August 20, 2005. Although she will exhibit a performance work, she will not appear in the gallery. At least not in the flesh. Miller’s durational performance-installation, “Waiting for Bigfoot,” will be located in a remote Northern California forest (“Bigfoot Country”).
While Sasquatch joke opportunities abound, I do find this somewhat fascinating. I’m not sure from the site if the project is more about an artistic presentation or research. But what I do know is that I’ve learned a lot of new names for Bigfoot:
(from the Bigfoot FAQ)
What are some other names for the “Bigfoot” creatures?
– Big Hairy Monsters, Sasquatch, Yeti. Other related terms: Yowie Man, Jinka, Witiko, Wendigo, Abonimable Snowman, Monkey Man, Fouke Monster, Boogy Monster, Honey Island Monster, and MoMo to name a few.
Yowie Man. I’m working that into my lingo the first chance I get. Tune in to the live feeds at waitingforbigfoot.com through August 20 to see if Jill Miller meets the Yowie Man.
Oh Posh, you came and you sang without reading…
Victoria Beckham aka “Posh Spice” of the ever so wondrous Spice Girls recently proclaimed that she hasn’t read a book in her life. Now, while that’s not too hard to believe, I kind of think she must be exaggerating. Then again, when they told us what they really wanted, I don’t remember any of the Spice Girls requesting novels.
