We’ve Been Very Good This Year, originally uploaded by caryn74.

It’s been a while since I had my picture taken with Santa … I think the last time was when I was in college and I stumbled into him at Frank’s Nursery & Crafts. Today we went to my daughter’s school for their annual craft fair and “holiday shoppe” fundraiser, which essentially ended up being a venue to buy Avon, Tupperware, etc. and a few little crafty bits. Then of course they have the kids’ shop portion that consists of trinkets kids can buy for those on their lists … namely grandma and grandpa. Last year they did this during school and my daughter took money in an envelope — and somehow ended up spending the bulk of it on herself. That’s my girl …

Anyway we ended up heading to the bastion of evil, Wal-Mart, which is like my favorite bastion of evil EVER. Right after KFC, of course. While we were in the holiday warehouse section, we noticed Santa hanging out and the next thing you know we were getting a FREE photo with him. Oh sure, I know the evil demons of Wal-Mart probably have Santa working in sweatshop conditions, with no time for bathroom breaks or lunch. I mean, he’s practically working 24 hours having his picture taken, loading the sleigh, corralling carts AND filling prescriptions in the full service pharmacy, without union representation or a livable wage. But dammit it was FREE! Thanks, Santa, for being your jolly old elf self even in the face of corporate oppression. Catch you in 22 days!
