Archive for September, 2008
These are my links for September 24th:
- If my brain had a newspaper on Flickr by summerpierre – Summerpierre does these great illustrations and this one just cracked me up — probably because I can totally relate.
- October Surprise 2008 Predictions – Election season humor ususally gives me a case of the eyerolls, but I have to admit I lol'ed a bit at this.
- Museum Day 2008: Free Museum Admission This Saturday – I probably won't be able to take advantage of this, but a nice opportunity for others out there — especially as the financial world dips into insanity.
Fall is in the air … which has absolutely nothing to do with anything. Just like these few things …
1) I upgraded my WordPress installation yesterday to try to fix a few things. Everything went pretty well and I think I like the latest WP release, but my tags are still broken. Boo. I have a new theme that is the same as my old theme, except it works with the new WordPress. This is thrilling me more than you know.
2) I decided to participate in the regular “Day in the Life Of” project on Flickr this year. It takes place on each solstice, and people basically take pictures of their day and post them. I figured it was something I could handle. But then I realized my life is really not that interesting. And yet, that doesn’t seem to stop me! I know that probably sold it for you, so you can check it out here.
3) Did anyone else read that story about Heather Mills donating a million dollars worth of soy hot dogs to the kids in the Bronx? Maybe I’m out of touch or just evil, but… really? Also I don’t think you can really call them “hot dogs” if they’re made out of soy. Because you’re still eating a dog. Just saying.
4) I have two people phone stalking me… the National Geographic subscription people wanting me to renew and Purdue University Alumni Association wanting me to donate money. Instead of just answering the phone and telling them no thanks, I am dealing with this in the mature way, by avoidance. I kind of want to see how long they’re going to hold out, to be honest.
These are my links for September 22nd:
- Dems eye Va. as 2008 battleground – USATODAY.com – Oh boy — can't WAIT for those campaign phone calls to start pouring in. Then again, it's a great opportunity to use some of my patented telemarketing pranks.
- Stephen Hawking unveils oddest clock ever – "On the hour, the college explains, the clock "'reminds us of our mortality with the sound of a chain dropping into a wooden coffin.'"
A little optimism for Monday morning.
- How To Debate Politics Like A Gentleman – From The Art of Manliness … but gals could definitely use a tip or two, as well.
