(To be honest, there’s mold on our pumpkin as it waits to be tossed out from Halloween. I’m pretty sure James Whitcomb Riley would not approve.) Regardless of the state of your pumpkin, it’s that time of year when pumpkin pies abound and pumpkin-based foodstuffs are waiting for you around every corner. For people that don’t enjoy the glory that is pumpkin, well, I think you’re going to be out of luck until December and everything turns into peppermint, but for those of us who enjoy the squash of the month, here are some ideas for indulging before pumpkin season ends:
Pumpkin Pie Cinnamon Rolls — I once pledged allegiance to Cinnabon, but I might become a traitor for a pumpkin-based version.
Pumpkin Tamales — not as sure about this one, but for the novelty alone, it’s at least going to be interesting.
Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream –pumpkin… ice cream. Enough said.
Pumpkin Pie with Caramel Pecan Topping — Isn’t everything better with caramel pecan topping?
Pumpkin Chiffon Tarts — via Retro Food, complete with gingersnap crust
Deep Fried Pumpkin Pies — How do you make a Twinkie even better? The same principle applies to Pumpkin Pie, I’m guessing. Only without the carnies.
Pumpkin and Sage Gratin — I’ll confess I don’t usually do savory pumpkin, but I may have to start making exceptions
Pumpkin Doughnuts — Time to make the donuts, indeed.
Chocolate Crusted Pumpkin Cheesecake — It’s pumpkin, it’s cheesecake, it’s chocolate crusted!
The Pumpkinator — ok you probably can’t try this one unless you happen to be near a Capital City Brewing Company, but as pumpkin based ales go, this one’s a keeper.
