Today was the “Thanksgiving Luncheon” at my daughter’s school, so I took a break from work today and headed for the school cafeteria. It’s been a while since I’ve been to lunch at school, but I like to go every so often because even though she’s a big fifth grader now, she still finds it fun to have mom or dad visit her on “her turf”. The school is fairly new, but cafeterias haven’t really changed that much since the “olden days” … otherwise known as “when I was a kid” or colloquially “when I was your age”.  Sure, they have magnetic scanned lunch cards and a few more menu choices, but there’s something timeless about the elementary school lunch tray: (more…)

It’s Not Just For Breakfast Anymore!

Anheuser-Busch will distribute Vermont Spirits’ vodka made from maple syrup and milk sugar, Vermont Gold, Vermont Gold Vintage and Vermont White. Currently, the regional brands are available only in the Northeast.

Getting ready for the big game — my daughter and I made these cookies. Being from Indiana I’m definitely rooting for the Colts today, but we all were Bears fans back in the day as well, so it’s really a win-win situation. Two great teams, one great game … and some cookies. How can you argue with that?
